Many of us get caught up trying to figure out how to get to our goal, to the end result. We start to look for the concrete steps we can achieve our goals. When we do not immediately get the correct answer, or the answer we think we should have, we usually give up our dreams and goals. Or we trudge on just a little bit longer and when we decide this is too hard to accomplish, when we feel the action, the excitement was gone, we quit.

Take the time to figure out your purpose. This will help you understand why you are doing what you're doing. It may seem to be a long road ahead of you, that fact that it is not important. To find out what steps to become self sufficient is easy. Think about it... you can easily go to any bookstore or on the internet and buy tons of books and a guide to the success secrets. Yet unless you are able to explain why you have a goal you will never enjoy your mind coming up with the how of achieving that purpose.

Many of us get caught up trying to figure out how to get to our personal achievement.

When you can find strong enough reasons to pull you towards your goals, and drive you away from the alternative, your mind will find a way to make it happen!

The how is not to be your focus. 'The Why' needs to be your focus. We do not like using the word need. Yet you need to understand why you have such goals. It helps you to decide what is important for you and to you.

If your goal is to have a fancy new car, and that is a perfectly good goal, ask yourself why that is important to you. You could say "well it would be reliable." No that is not the right answer. Really, just follow us on this. A new Honda or Toyota is reliable but you want a Corvette or Viper, shiny and new. Maybe you want to be noticed by others? Maybe you want to have people say to you "That's a beautiful car, tell me all about it." Chances are you have that goal because you feel a need to be connected to others. Or perhaps you have that goal because you lacked that luxury in the past and you think that will make you happy. Then perhaps your real intention of that new sports car is happiness. Think about this for awhile. This is the why of a goal. Now the how will be discussed.

Jack Canfield says when you give your mind a thousand dollar question you will get a thousand dollar answer. If you give your mind a million dollar question, it will come up with a million dollar answer.

The stronger and more compelling your reasons are your definitions of why you want something, the stronger will be your will to preserver and make it your own. There are a million and two ways to make money yet truly, is the money what you want? Or is it the security of having the money to take care of those you love?

Well there you go. Success leaves clues states Tony Robbins. You can read books on how to make money selling products, investing in real estate, trading stocks, etc. The list goes on and on. But unless you are aware of your purpose it is next to impossible to stay motivated to maintain enthusiasm to complete the plan. This is why so many of us make goals, and give up on those same goals.

Biography

With a BA from Harvard University, a Masters from University of Massachusetts, and an honorary doctorate from the University of Santa Monica, Canfield has been a high school and university teacher, a workshop facilitator, a psychotherapist, and for the past 30 years, a leading authority in the area of self-esteem and personal development.

Canfield is the founder of "Self Esteem Seminars" in Santa Barbara, and "The Foundation for Self Esteem" in Culver City, California. Self Esteem Seminars trains entrepreneurs, educators, corporate leaders and employees on how to accelerate the achievement of their personal and professional goals, while The Foundation for Self Esteem provides self-esteem resources and trainings to social workers, welfare recipients and human resource professionals. Canfield has traveled to over 21 countries, delivering hundreds of keynote speeches, workshops and trainings each year. As part of his presentation style, he always uses inspirational, motivational and uplifting stories to help his audiences discover, experience and retain key concepts and approaches. After each session, audiences everywhere had encouraged him to put his stories into a single book.

In 1990, while on an airplane home, he felt that it was time. He shared his idea with author Mark Victor Hansen during breakfast one day. Hansen liked the idea, and so began the Chicken Soup for the Soul phenomenon. But with their busy schedules, translating what worked on the podium onto the written page proved more challenging than either of them had anticipated. After three long years, the two had compiled just sixty-eight stories — a far cry from the 101 they believed was the magic number for a successful book. Nonetheless, their successful partnership has spawned many other titles that have made them enormously famous.

Canfield has appeared on numerous television shows, including Good Morning America, 20/20, Eye to Eye, CNN’s Talk Back Live, PBS and the BBC. Today, he speaks shares his success strategies with companies and associations worldwide.

The most recent book Canfield has written was the 2005 publication of The Success Principles. In it Canfield shares 64 principles that he and other people have utilized to achieve great levels of success.
